The Ethos of God

It's been an interesting Journey as I've continued my work in the Gospel of John.  The words are so often just read over, but the meaning of the first chapter are truly the basic foundation for our theological Worldview by which we build all other ideas on.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (v.1)

From the very beginning the 'Logos' of God was in existance.  It was the essence of God's universe, and the union of the Logos with the 'Ethos' or life written about in the next section, "In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of Ment" (v.3)

It's interesting to continue our understanding of God's Word as it existed before the Universe was created.  The very Word of God became the spoken, literal, visual understanding of God's spirit as the Word became flesh and dwelt among us in body form. (v.14)  Jesus was with God.  Jesus was in God.  Jesus was before the bigness of God.  And...Jesus was in the intricate details of humanity as He entered the world.

The Life that existed in God was then translated into the creation God had in mind for all things on this planet.  In other words, there is a "life" force that exists in all things natural and supernatural, all coming from the One creator, GOD.

The reason I find this so important, is because as we walk through life and wonder where things come from, or why things happen the way they do; it's important to return to our foundation.  It's important to put the presupposition of God's perfect 'logos' and 'ethos' in order that we can appreciate all things made.

He made the trees.
He made the rivers.
He made the mountains.
He made the Oceans.
He made the stars.
He made the galaxies.
He made the atoms....the neutrons...the protons...the electrons...

He made all things, and all things come from Him.

Today, I sit in my study and am in a state of thankful wonderment, as I look around me and see the very lifeforce of creation all around me.

John 1...the foundation of a Christian Worldview.

Take some time today, and just Be Still.

Be Still and dwell on God's beautiful story of creation
Be Still and make sure your Journey has a core of understanding that 'every good and perfect gift comes from above.'
Be Still and remember the beginning of the Christian story starts with a Word, and a Life.
